1) When pitching for the green, always check how far above or below you the flag is. If the hole is higher than you are, it can often add an entire club to the shot. Likewise if the flag is lower, you may need to use one club less.
2) Don't be afraid to putt with power. You can sometimes eliminate any slope by hammering the ball straight at the hole.
